Skin care & Cosmetics
One
of the important defences of the body is the hydrolipid coat of the skin (hydro
= water, lipid = fat). Sweat and sebaceous glands manufacture this coat, which
holds the horny cells of the epidermis together, which, in turn, protects the
whole organism from the intrusion of water as well as from dehydration. Other
important components of our natural hemp cosmetics are the unsaturated linseed
acid and the "Homo-gamma-linolen-acid". This supports the function of
the hydrolipid coat and protects the skin against infections, dehydration and
radical light particles. The "gamma-linoleic-acid", has being used for
the healing of skin-burn and other skin problems as neurodermitis in the
medicine. The cold pressed hemp seed oil that we use shows a 73% portion of
twofold, unsaturated linseed acids (as a comparison): wheat germ oil has "only"
a 50% portion), which gives this oil the ideal requirements for use in cosmetic
products. Linseed acid also serves as a carrier for other important ingredients
in some of our products: the aqueous extracts of calendula and camomile, which
have very positive skin supporting effects.
We now are investigating this plant thoroughly to seed if - as we believe -
other substances apart from the linseed acid and the "gamma-Linoleic-acid",
with positive effects, for instance squalled, phytohormones or allantoin, can be
found. The "a gamma-linoleic-acid content of our organic hemp seed oil is
around 4%. We only use hemp-oil from certified organic grow (Controlled by
AGRECO-Witzenhausen, Germany).
